I gated content but I can still see the page in my tests

If your gated content isn’t appearing behind a gate, a few common issues may be causing it:

  • Logged-in preview – If you’re viewing the site as an admin or a previously verified visitor, Bread & Butter won’t re-show the gate. Try in a private/incognito window.
  • Plugin not connected – Your WordPress site must be linked to an active Bread & Butter account. If the plugin isn’t authenticated, gates won’t load.
  • Gate not published or assigned – Make sure the gate is saved and applied to the correct page, post, or content block in WordPress.
  • Caching or CDN – Site or browser caching (e.g., from Cloudflare, WP Rocket, or a CDN) can serve an older, ungated version of your page. Clear your cache and refresh.

If everything looks correct but the gate still doesn’t appear, reconnect your Bread & Butter account in the plugin settings and reload your site — this often resolves connection or script issues.
